- Proof of
Identity

- New Anti-Money Laundering Regulations came
into force from 1st March 2004. These Regulations affect both
estate agents and auctioneers. Athawes, Son & Co. are now
legally required to confirm the identity of auction clients
and bidders/buyers.

- In order to comply with these Regulations, all
successful bidders/buyers must provide Athawes, Son &
Co.'s auction team with (i) proof of identity and
(ii) proof of a current residential address.

- One document from each of the following
two lists should be presented to Athawes, Son & Co. by
successful bidders/buyers, and the auctioneers are required to
take photocopies of these documents for this Statutory
Purpose:

- Identity Documents: Current full
UK Driving License** (Provisional Driving License will NOT be
accepted), Current signed passport, Resident Permit
issued by the Home Office to EU Nationals, Inland Revenue
Tax Notification, Firearms Certificate.

- **May be used to evidence identity or address,
but not both.

- Evidence of Address: Current full
UK Driving License** (Provisional Driving License will NOT be
accepted), A utility bill issued within the last three
months (NOT a mobile phone bill), Council Tax Bill (valid
for the current year), Bank, Building Society or Credit
Union statement containing a current address, The most
recent original mortgage statement from a UK lender.

- If a bidder is acting on behalf of
another party, they will be required to provide the documents
detailed above for both themselves and the actual buyer, as well
as provide a valid letter of authority from the buyer authorising
them to bid on their behalf.

- If a bidder is acting on behalf of a
company, the above documents will still be required along with
written authority from the company.

- Payment of the Auction Deposit to Athawes, Son
& Co., shall be made by Banker's Draft or a cheque drawn on a
United Kingdom Clearing Bank, no cash will be
accepted.
